You’re more than you

Mark and Linda care for each other. Linda has MS. They love to travel and take on new adventures.

Linda has a carer, Martha, that comes in once a week for respite. We didn’t want a babysitter. We wanted to use the time so Linda was doing something she enjoyed and was still actively doing new things.

We decided to make the experience a global cooking adventure, every week Linda and Martha would pick out a new recipe to cook from somewhere around the world. Last week it was Morrocan themed. They sometimes go to the market together to buy the vegetables. When they come home, Linda is involved in the cooking process, chopping up all the vegetables. They also photograph what they’ve cooked and make a scrapbook of all the different things they’ve tried.

For ideas about foods from around the world, and how to shop for the ingredients, there are a few helpful website like http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/content/recipes/cuisines/

Here you can watch a video about the food, and get the recipe. It can be good inspiration for picking something new http://www.epicurious.com/articlesguides/blogs/80dishes

It’s important that Linda still does as much as she can, makes decisions and shapes experiences so it really becomes something that she wants to do. It also has created a great relationship between Martha and Linda, it provides them with things to talk about and do together, they get along well.
